Answers to the most common questions about booking, cancellations, fitness levels, accessibility and what to expect on tour.
Yes, bookings are required for all of our walking and running tours. This helps us ensure that we have enough guides available to accommodate all guests, and lets us provide you with the best possible experience. Simply search for a tour and click Book Now, or contact us and we'll be happy to assist.
Find your preferred tour on the Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane tours pages and click Book Now to check availability and pay online. For private, group or corporate tours, contact us directly to arrange a custom booking.
A booking is accepted once a deposit or full payment has been made and held by Fit City Tours or an authorised travel agent on our behalf. Bookings must be paid in full using an approved payment method unless otherwise agreed.
A contract is made once your booking is confirmed by email, subject to availability. You'll receive an e-ticket by email — there's no requirement to print it.
If you need to cancel, let us know at least 24 hours in advance for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are non-refundable. See our Booking Terms & Conditions for full detail.
Yes — rescheduling and participant changes are free of charge up to 24 hours prior to the tour, subject to availability.
It's your responsibility to arrive on time at the meeting point. After 15 minutes without communication, the tour is deemed cancelled by you, with no refund.
Tours generally run as scheduled, subject to safety and weather conditions. Thunderstorms or lightning may delay departure by up to 30 minutes; if unsafe conditions persist, the tour may be cancelled and you'll be offered a reschedule or refund. Extreme heat or flooding may also mean a tour is rerouted, postponed or cancelled for safety.
Yes. If we need to cancel a tour — due to weather, minimum numbers not being met, or a Force Majeure event such as a natural disaster or government restriction — you'll be offered the choice of a full refund or a rescheduled tour.
Some tours, including Private, Personalised and Corporate Group tours, require a minimum number of guests to proceed. If that minimum isn't reached, we may cancel the tour and will offer a full refund or the option to reschedule, notifying you as early as reasonably possible — no later than 24 hours prior where possible.
We recommend comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes. In hot weather, light and breathable clothing plus plenty of water is best. In cold weather, layers, a hat, gloves and a scarf will help keep you warm.
Comfortable shoes, a water bottle and sun protection are recommended for most tours. Check your specific tour's listing for any additional recommendations, since these can vary by route and city.
Each tour has its own meeting point, listed on the tour page and confirmed in your booking email. Some tours finish at a different location to where they start, so check your tour's details before heading out.
A running tour combines sightseeing with a guided run or jog through a city. A trained guide leads the group at a comfortable, conversational pace — typically slower and shorter than a standard run — stopping at landmarks and points of interest along the way while sharing local history and culture.
Pace varies by tour. Walking tours move at a leisurely pace suitable for all fitness levels, while running tours keep a moderate, conversational pace for people comfortable running for an extended period. Guides accommodate a range of fitness levels on every tour.
Yes. We offer everything from leisurely walks to more strenuous runs, so there's an option to match most fitness levels. If you're unsure which tour suits you, contact us and we'll help you find the right fit.
Our tours are kept intentionally small — typically 10 participants or fewer — so the experience stays personal, interactive, and everyone has room to ask questions.
We may photograph or film participants during a tour for marketing purposes.
Alcohol is only consumed where it's part of the advertised experience and served at a licensed venue — for example, our Talk & Tapas Walking Tour. Outside of an advertised inclusion, participants must not consume alcohol, smoke or take illegal drugs during a tour.
Yes, families are welcome. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Some tours suit families better than others — check the specific tour listing or contact us for a recommendation.
Not all of our tours are wheelchair accessible, as routes include laneways, stairs, uneven surfaces and public paths that vary by city and tour. Contact us before booking with your specific access needs and we'll help identify a suitable tour or discuss reasonable adjustments.
Guests with access needs are welcome. Get in touch before booking with details of the tour you're considering and any needs we should know about, and we'll provide practical route information and discuss reasonable adjustments where possible. See our full Accessibility page for more.
Yes. Private tours are a great option if you want a more personalised experience or a specific time outside our regular schedule. Contact us to discuss your needs — private tours may carry additional fees and have different cancellation terms, which we'll confirm before booking.
Yes, we offer special rates and packages for groups and corporate events. Contact us directly to discuss your group size, preferences and requirements, and we'll help create a customised tour or package.
